AV Group/Danzer manufacture, sell and hire out portable buildings.

The Company also manufactures portable buildings. Our principal activities include the supply and delivery of our manufactured products and installation of the finished buildings on site where required.

To further the aims of this policy we will:
• Provide adequate environmental training for all staff
• Assess the environmental performance of all suppliers
• Develop a set of environmental targets and action plans
• Review this environmental policy and its action plans periodically with the view to continuous improvement

Working towards adhering to the principles of an Environmental Management System
The intention of our environmental management philosophy, which we attempt to apply to all our activities, provides the setting of objectives and targets and it is our aim to secure a continual improvement in environmental performance.

The Directors of the Company are committed to the implementation and continual development of this policy and will give full backing to those authorised to carry it out.


It is the Company’s policy to attach maximum importance to matters concerning the environment. We recognise that our operations have an effect on the local, regional and global environment. Our policy is to meet and, so far as is reasonably practicable, adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements (regulations, laws and codes of practice) and to minimise any adverse environmental effects caused as a result of our activities.

We will continue to assess the environmental impact of our operations and through careful management of materials and resources, we will reduce our wastage to the lowest practical levels.

Our designs and use of products will be carried out in such a way as to minimise their environmental effects, both in usage and disposal. Where reasonably practicable all waste will be recycled.

Methods of storage, transportation and the use and disposal of hazardous materials are continually assessed and reviewed in order to minimise any adverse effects on the environment.

Employee and contractor involvement in environmental matters is encouraged at all levels and will be promoted through training, communications, guidance in its implementation and a constant reappraisal of working methods and techniques.

We will dispose of all waste in a responsible manner, ensuring that we always comply with the Duty of Care Regulations. Any services used for the storage or disposal of waste will be checked to ensure that appropriate licences are held.

If any notice or prosecution related to a breach of environmental legislation is served against the business by the Environment Agency, a local authority or other regulatory body, we will immediately notify any bodies we are registered with (eg. Constructionline, etc).

We will attempt to reduce or eliminate the use of ozone depleting chemicals (CFC, Halon, 1.1.1 Trichloroethane, HCFC), tropical hardwood from forests which have not been independently certified as sustainable, pesticides on the U.K. “red list” or “EC “black list” and peat for soil amelioration purposes.

We will try, where possible, to use suppliers who are willing to take away packaging for re-use or recycling and will consider the environmental impact of any purchases.

We will try to reduce the energy and water consumption of the business and minimise CO2 emissions. We will invest in the improved energy efficiency of products we use and investigate environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources.

We will ensure that dust, noise and odour do not cause a nuisance to the community surrounding the place of business or site on which we are working.

In the office environment paper will be used sensibly, with measures to re-use and recycle waste paper in place, and the increased use of electronic communication encouraged to reduce the need for paper use.

We will ensure that no polluting matter enters surface waters or groundwater, will obtain permission before discharging any contaminated water, and before commencing any works we will check the area for endangered species, protected plant species, trees subject to a Tree Preservation Order and protected archaeology.

We will try to use sub- contractors and suppliers who comply with the requirements of our environmental management policy, and will help sub-contractors and suppliers to comply with environmental laws and regulations as much as possible

Sustainability is all about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. It can be measured in terms of economic, environmental and social value.

AVDanzer produces some of the most advanced modular and relocatable building systems available. They are designed and manufactured under controlled conditions using the latest technology in state-of-the-art production facilities. The steel-framed buildings are fully fitted out in the factory before being delivered to site by road, where they are craned onto pre-prepared foundations in a matter of hours.

Studies have shown that our modular method of construction offers considerable whole-life value benefits, including:

• Construction predictability: Costly time and budget overruns are a major concern among construction clients. Because it is factory based, modular building manufacture is not disrupted by weather conditions, site characteristics or trade shortages. Research has shown that 99.9% of AVDanzer projects are delivered on time and on budget* – compared with a construction-industry average of 63% on time and 49% on budget.**

• Speed of construction: Build times can be reduced by up to 50% using modular building methods, leading to proportionate savings in site costs and an earlier return on investment.

• Quality control: Factory-based manufacturing environment delivers consistently high quality standards through close control of the entire construction process – our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2000.

• Better building performance: Factory production means buildings are manufactured to very tight tolerances. Use of cutting edge software ensures that every building designed by AVDanzer has carbon emission rates which will either meet or exceed the requirements of Building Regulations Part L2. Tests conducted by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) on the AVDanzer Linkpak NG building system have shown that it exceeds the Building Regulations Part L air permeability requirements by 70% – resulting in exceptional energy efficiency performance for reduced energy consumption.

• Environmental control: We have gained accreditation for our high-standards of environmental management and commitment to ongoing environmental responsibility. This means that the environmental impact of our products and processes is being reduced through the successful implementation of an environmental management system that is certified to ISO 14001:2004.

• Ozone-friendly materials: The insulation materials used in the walls, roof and floor of AVDanzer buildings have an ODP (Ozone Depleting Potential) of zero – minimising their impact on the environment.

• Reduced noise and pollution: Fewer vehicle movements mean less environmental pollution because of reduced vehicle mileage. Noise levels on site are also minimised.

• Recycling of materials: AVDanzer buildings are manufactured with ease of disassembly and recycling in mind. Bolted components can easily be dismantled and re-used, and steel is endlessly recyclable.

• Less waste: The amount of waste generated at both the factory and the site location is minimised. The AVDanzer manufacturing facility in Denton recycles more than 82% of its waste

Improved health and safety: Factory-based construction offers an intrinsically safer working environment than a traditional construction site. The need to work at height on site is removed.

AVDanzer itself is committed to sustainability through its energy-saving and environmental programme. The company has emitted 3385 tons CO2, over 80 tons less than in 2008/9, the equivalent over a year of 20 average family cars. Plus, AVDanzer is committed to meeting the challenges set out in the traditional construction industry Major Contractors’ Group Sustainability Charter.†
