When project management firm Osborn Associates was tasked by US distribution company Iron Mountain, to create a storage vault at its Damastown depot near Dublin, our modular system met a demanding specification in all its detail. Given a very tight deadline, the modular solution made absolute logistical sense and we are delighted to have now completed our very first ‘overseas’ commission.
The storage vault will provide highly secure storage for some 46,464 Digital Linear Tapes (DLT) – an archive that amounts to a staggering quantity of valuable data.
Manufactured by AVDanzer Limited at our Langley Mill site in Nottingham, the three 3m x 9.6m steel modules create the storage vault which is linked to the main Iron Mountain depot. 95% of the fit-out was completed at Langley Mill in order to allow rapid installation at Damastown. Consequently, the units were pre-installed with insulated wall and ceiling panels, mobile shelving, fire alarms, a pressure relief system, security system and air conditioning.
A key factor in the project was ensuring that the tracking system remained perfectly level and we were able to draw on the previous experience of sister company AVDanzer which installed a similar system in North Wales, so this crucial task was completed without a hitch.
Our long term haulage partner David Watson Transport then took the units on three lorries from Nottingham via Holyhead to Damastown 45 miles outside of Dublin. The installation was completed and handed over in just four days, to the delight of Iron Mountain.
Osborn Associate’s Phil Osborn comments: “I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone for your professionalism, craftsmanship and overall effort to achieve this exceptional result of which you should be rightfully proud. Also the spirit of cooperation has made this scheme a real pleasure on which to work and personally interact with you all.”
Further collaborations with Osborn Associates are likely later this year, to deliver similar installations for Iron Mountain across Europe as we take our operation international.
