Today we are focussing on Hire Desk Trainee, Bethanie Hurley who has worked at AVDanzer since September 2019. Bethanie started with us as an Administration Apprentice at our Manchester Head Office, whilst she completed her NVQ in Business Administration at Tameside College.

On the successful competition of her qualification we were delighted to offer her a job and she now works with our Hire Desk Team providing quotations, arranging site services for clients, raising sales invoices and carrying out reception duties at Head Office.

We asked Bethanie to tell us about some of the ups and downs she has encountered while being an apprentice and what she has learnt while being at AVDanzer. Bethanie says “When I started my apprenticeship I was so scared to even answer the phone, but Natasha gave me lots of tips and guidance and I learned what I needed to do over time, instead of being thrown in at the deep end. A difficult thing was the wage – I was 21 and was on an apprenticeship wage but it taught me to save and gave me life lessons to not spend money on things I don’t need. I have really loved doing an apprenticeship because I learnt so much more about the business than I would have if I just started as an administrator. I learnt the background as to why we process things and the effect it has. I have learnt how to deal with all aspects of the company and not just admin. I have now got the job I wanted, and I am continuing to learn about the business – in the future I want to stay at AVDanzer and know how to do more roles so that I am more valuable to the company. Doing an apprenticeship has definitely made me more confident and more appreciative”.

Manchester Depot Manager, Natasha McQuillan says “we needed more help in our Head Office and decided it would be advantageous to the business to train an Apprentice to cover several different functions. Bethanie has proved to be a great addition to our team and has helped us enormously over the last year, when we have been incredibly busy, and we’ve also had to adapt to the challenges of the pandemic”.

We are very proud of Bethanie’s achievements and look forward to supporting her development and future career with AVDanzer.
