AVDanzer is delighted to be able to help support homeless charity CentrePoint’s Big Sleep Out, which took place in London last night.
The event saw over 1,000 CentrePoint supporters swapping their beds for sleeping bags and sleeping out overnight on the Greenwich peninsular, next to the site of the O2 Arena.
There are numerous other events taking place right across the UK but the London event is the biggest with hundreds of people taking part and will involve celebrities, live entertainment and significant press coverage.
The Big Sleep Out event is supported by our client Taylor Wimpey who have sponsored the event in recent years. They asked us to get involved and help by providing some welfare and storage facilities for the team of volunteers.
Of course, we were only too happy to oblige and have delivered two 20’ x 8’ portable modular buildings which are being used by the protection teams and also to house the press unit and other volunteers.
Last year over 100 Taylor Wimpey team members joined in with the project which aims to raise awareness of homelessness and looks set to smash its fundraising target of £500,000.
Sleep Out doesn’t aim to replicate what it’s like to be homeless, but it does give an insight into the challenges faced by homeless young people: the damp, the biting cold and the struggle to carry on with the next day on minimal sleep.
Good luck to everyone sleeping out and if you want to get involved in your local area please click here.
